Budget 2019: FM Piyush Goyal gives boost to entertainment industry, announces single window clearance for Indian filmmakers
New Delhi: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday (February 1) presented the Interim Budget 2019 and gave a big boost to Bollywood by announcing that a single-window clearance would be made available for the Indian filmmakers. The provision of single-window clearance was earlier only available for the foreign filmmakers. He said that the employment rate is high in the entertainment industry and then mentioned Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' in his speech. “Saw Uri movie. There was such josh in the theater,” Goyal said.
The 54-year-old minister, while saying, "Hum sabko bollywood ka shauk hai," also announced that the PM Narendra Modi led government will introduce an anti-camcording provision to the Cinematograph Act to fight film privacy. The entertainment industry has heaved a sigh of relief as several films like 'Simmba', 'The Accidental Prime Minister' and 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' were leaked online. Leaking of the film causes huge losses to the makers and the new provision will help to tackle privacy.
Considering cinema is one of the largest industries in India, a lot of eyes were set on the Interim Budget which was presented at the Parliament today.
