Celebrating Fashion at IKFW by Dr. Arijit Kumar Neogy: Biggest Fashion Extravaganza In Eastern India

The fashion sequence was much praised for its unique and impactful execution, seamlessly blending the beauty of nature with the grandeur of high fashion.

The International Kolkata Fashion Week (IKFW) 2.0 was a grand fashion extravaganza organised by Pragaati Banglaa®️, the biggest and most prestigious fashion event in Eastern India. The fashion event showcased the creations of 33 renowned fashion designers, featuring 256 models, 42 makeup artists, and hair stylists, all gracing a 70-foot-long ramp over two days at the Tangerine Royale Banquets in the City of Joy.

Professor Dr. Arijit Kumar Neogy, the Bangaliana Icon, was the driving force behind this grand showcase. Dr. Neogy's ethnic attire brand, "ELEGANCE," has already participated in 19 international fashion weeks in the country and abroad and has bagged several awards for promoting sustainable fashion and ethnicity worldwide.

"ELEGANCE meets LEGACY" and "Aristocracy & Sophistication Well Defined" are the catchphrases that embody the essence of Dr. Neogy's brands, Pragaati Banglaa®️ and ELEGANCE. His ethnic wardrobes featured a stunning array of techniques, including hand-painting, applique, embroidery, Punjabis, hand-painted and printed saris, and multicoloured dhotis, showcasing his 2024 theme along with the essence of Bangaliana, which he has been passionately promoting for the last two decades.

The fashion sequence was much praised for its unique and impactful execution, seamlessly blending the beauty of nature with the grandeur of high fashion. The models graced the 70-foot-long ramp over two days at the Tangerine Royale Banquets, accompanied by a magnificent display of exotic birds, including macaws, cockatoos, and lorikeets, as well as beloved pets such as beagles, chow-chows, German bulldogs, and rabbits. The presence of these living creatures highlighted the vital role of flora and fauna in the delicate balance of our ecosystem, from the oxygen-producing plants to the carbon dioxide-releasing animals, all of which are essential for human existence and well-being.

Top models and fashion influencers from Kolkata, including Madhabilata Mitra, Md. Shabbir Beig, Poulomi Bhowmick, Rita Maity, Abhijit Chakraborty, Manpreet Singh, Roop Bakshi, Shadman Khan, Anurrup Barman, Nischay Singh, and Rupam Das graced the runway, showcasing the elegance, aristocracy, and sophistication of Dr. Neogy's collection. While Tathastu, Bappaditya Kundu and Supratim Sil were responsible for photography, Lakme Academy (Salt Lake) took care of the hair and makeup of the participants. In addition, Nicola Gomes choreographed and walked down the ramp as the showstopper of the fashion sequence.

The fashion showcase truly celebrated peace, harmony, and universal brotherhood, embodying the principles of the Maha Upanishad's "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" or "The World Is One Family." This philosophy emphasises a global perspective, prioritising the collective well-being over individual or family interests. It encourages a profound understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness of all life, fostering worldwide solidarity and responsibility, especially in addressing crucial issues such as climate change, sustainable development, peace, and the tolerance of differences.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Neogy has been at the forefront of this endeavour, using his platform to celebrate the timeless beauty and cultural significance of Bangaliana, both in India and on the global stage. The grand fashion extravaganza was a resounding success, captivating audiences with its seamless integration of nature, culture, and high fashion.
