The luxury car segment in India is blossoming as Mercedes-Benz has revealed that it sold a record 17,408 units in 2023- up from 15,822 units in 2022; +10%. This means that Indians are buying more luxury cars than ever although it is still a small percent of the overall total Indian car market.

As like all years, the E-Class LWB is their highest selling car in India but interestingly the sedan segment comprising A-Class, C-Class E-Class, and S-Class still have a strong 45% of annual sales amidst the favourable buyer tilt towards SUVs. Of course, the rest of the sales come from SUVs with record performance from the SUV segment (55% contribution) with the newly launched GLC, GLE, and existing products like GLA and GLS. For 2024, the luxury carmaker has said that it will bring in 12 plus products including 3 new EVs and many new cars from its top-end portfolio which includes the Maybach. Network expansion for the German car brand is also part of the pipeline with Mercedes-Benz India set to inaugurate 20 workshops and expand to further 10 new cities in 2024.
