Raksha Bandhan 2024: Sisters Will Not Be Able To Tie Rakhi On Their Brothers' Wrists In The Morning - Know Why

There is no auspicious time in the morning for tying Rakhi on this day. Know the auspicious time to tie rakhi this Raksha Bandhan.

Raksha Bandhan 2024: Raksha Bandhan is the festival that symbolises the unwavering love, trust, and affection between brothers and sisters and is celebrated every year on Sawan Purnima, according to the Hindu calendar. This year, Raksha Bandhan will be observed across India on August 19, 2024, with sisters tying the sacred thread (Rakhi) on their brothers' wrists.

Traditionally, Rakhi is always tied during an auspicious time, and it is especially important to avoid tying Rakhi during the Bhadra period. This is why checking the Muhurat (auspicious time) is crucial before tying Rakhi, as it is believed to bring good fortune.

However, according to the Panchang (Hindu calendar), there will be no auspicious time available in the morning to tie Rakhi this year. This means that sisters will not be able to tie Rakhi on their brothers' wrists in the morning.

So, when is the best time to tie Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan?

Muhurat For Tying Rakhi:

The Purnima Tithi (full moon day) will begin at 3:04 AM and will last until 11:55 PM. Despite the Purnima Tithi lasting the entire day, Rakhi cannot be tied in the morning because the inauspicious Bhadra period will be in effect until 1:29 PM.

Raksha Bandhan 2024: Bhadra Kaal

  • End of Bhadra for Raksha Bandhan: 01:30 PM
  • Bhadra Tail: 09:51 AM - 10:53 AM
  • Bhadra Mukh: 10:53 AM - 12:37 PM

Tying Rakhi during the Bhadra period is considered highly inauspicious. According to the hindu mythology, Ravana's sister tied Rakhi during Bhadra, which ultimately led to his demise. Since then, it has been considered ill-advised for any sister to tie Rakhi to her brother during this time.

Therefore, the ideal time to tie Rakhi will be after 1:32 PM, when the Bhadra period ends. The most auspicious time for tying Rakhi will be between 1:30 PM and 7:00 PM in the evening.
