Chaitra Navratri 2024: Chaitra Navratri began on April 9th and will conclude on April 17th, 2024, which falls on a Wednesday. Today, the festival is on its 8th day, which is celebrated as Durga Ashtami. Devotees worship Maa Mahagauri on this day. Goddess Mahagauri wears white garments and ornaments. She is considered to be eight years old. She has a peaceful look with four hands. In her upper right hand she displays the Abhaya mudra, while in the lower one holds a trident. On her left, her upper hand holds a damaru, while the lower one displays the var mudra.

Offerings To Goddess Mahagauri:

Many people worship the eighth form of Durga- Maa Mahgauri and she is offered her favorite halwa, puris, and chickpeas.

On this day, coconut barfi and laddoos are also offered to please Goddess Mahagauri. Because coconut is considered her favourite offering, try to include coconut in the worship and offer it as bhog to her.

You can offer mogra flowers to Goddess Mahagauri as well during her worship as those are very dear to her.

Puja Vidhi For The Eighth Day Of Navratri:

This day sees the worship of all nine forms of the Goddess during the Durga Ashtami Puja. Begin by worshiping the Kalash and then worship Goddess Durga. Offer flowers, garlands, sindoor, kumkum, akshat, and sweets. Also, offer coconut. Light a ghee lamp and incense and recite Durga Chalisa, Mahagauri Mantra, Stotra, etc. Finally, perform aarti of the Goddess.

Furthermore, on this day young unmarried girls are worshipped in a ceremony known as 'Kuamri Puja'. This is because, they are believed to embody the essence of Goddess Durga herself. It signifies the presence of divine feminine energy across all stages of life, from childhood to adulthood.
