TDP Members Raised Slogans During Governor's Address In Andhra Pradesh Assembly

The Governor explained that micro, small and medium enterprises have started production in the state with an investment of Rs 7,015 crore

Hyderabad: The Budget session 2022-23 of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature began on Monday. AP Governor Bishwabhushan Harichandan addressed the AP Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council for the first time. The Governor addressed the Virtual Policy Meetings on Budget 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19.

During Governor's speech, opposition Telugu Desam Party members raised "Governor go back" slogans and accused him of failing to protect the constitutional institutions.

However, Biswabhushan Harichandan continued his speech and said the government raised the retirement age for employees to 62 and has decided to form new districts to develop all areas.

The 11th PRC decision was implemented. Pensioners and employees have benefited from this. He said giving 23 per cent fitment by the government to the employees shows the government's commitment towards the employees.

He said the economic downturn has harmed the state’s financial resources. But the present government has kept the state on a development trajectory even during the Covid outbreak.

It showed 0.22 per cent GSDP growth in 2020-21. The country's real GDP fell by 7.3 per cent, while the AP state's GDP grew by 9.91 per cent year-on-year at constant prices. We have undertaken the reorganisation of districts in line with decentralisation and good governance. The new districts will be ruled from Ugadi to make 13 districts into 26 districts.

The state's economy has bounced back from a slowdown last year. The state's economy forecasts for 2021-22 is a comprehensive growth of 16.82 per cent at current prices. Per Capita Income rose to Rs 2,04,758 crore from Rs 1,76,707 crore last year, a growth rate of 15.87 per cent.

During the Covid period too, high standards were set for farmers, women, children, the downtrodden, the weaker sections, education, health, and women's empowerment.

The village, ward secretariat and volunteer systems have brought government services closer to the people. 

The government is implementing programs like Jagannanna Amma Odi, Jagannanna Vidya Kanuka, Jagannanna Gorumudda, Jagannanna Vidya Deevena, Jagannanna Vasati Deevena. The government has provided 3 pairs of uniforms, belts, shoes, books, notebooks, Oxford English Telugu dictionary and bags to 47 lakh students in government-aided schools.

Funds have been allocated for the creation of infrastructure in the state. The Governor clarified that 9,200 km of rural roads had been repaired and developed at the cost of Rs 1,073 crore. Infrastructure such as RBKs, village secretariats and digital libraries are also being developed in rural areas. The Polavaram project is 77 per cent complete. It has been clarified that the entire project will be completed by 2023.

The Governor explained that micro, small and medium enterprises have started production in the state with an investment of Rs 7,015 crore. He said industrial exports accounted for 5.8 per cent of the country's exports.
