On Thursday, the High Court was hearing a contempt of court case for failing to follow court directives. Following the trial, the court heard arguments from both sides and sentenced eight senior IAS officers in the state to two weeks in prison.

The HC punished the authorities for failing to follow its directions to remove village and ward secretariats from government schools. It was noted that the officials purposefully failed to carry out the directives issued a year back, thereby, committing contempt of court.

The High Court also directed the accused to bear the one-day cost of the court.
