Andhra Pradesh: Girl Dies After Consuming 'Stale' Mutton At Madrasa, Parents Allege 'Foul Play'

On Thursday night, shortly after their meal, ten children fell severely ill and required immediate medical attention.

A young girl died due to food poisoning after consuming contaminated food at a madrasa in Ajit Singh Nagar, Vijayawada. The food, served by a charitable trust, reportedly included 100 kilograms of rotten mutton, leading to severe health issues. The event also left eight other children hospitalised.

The victim was identified as Karishma. On Thursday night, shortly after their meal, ten children fell severely ill and required immediate medical attention. The family members of the affected children blamed the stale mutton, which had allegedly been in use since June 17, for the outbreak of food poisoning, according to a report on India Today.

In response to the tragic incident, the victims' families gathered at the madrasa to protest and demand accountability for the negligence. However, the family members of the girl alleged foul play in the death.

Family Members Alleged Foul Play

The parents of the deceased girl, Karishma, alleged that there were injuries on the girl's body. They claimed that the school informed them about her death six hours after the incident occurred.

The girl's body was transported to the Government General Hospital (GGH) mortuary on Friday. A police officer involved in the investigation stated that they have booked a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of Cr.PC, as reported by The Hindu.

After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for stringent measures to ensure the safety and well-being of children in educational and charitable institutions.

Further investigation is on.

In 2021, approximately 15 people in Ternekal village, located in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, fell ill with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea over a span of four days, leading to widespread concern among the residents. Authorities have suggested that the illness may have been caused by the consumption of stale food.
