No specific agendas for upcoming Indo-China 'informal' summit

By Naveen Kapoor

Wuhan [China], April 26 (ANI): No specific agendas have been set for the upcoming informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at China's Wuhan City on Friday.

The summit is touted to be an informal one where two leaders are scheduled to discuss about bilateral and global strategic issues in an informal setting.

It is a first-of-its kind summit to be held between the two Asian giants, which have shared a long-time strategic relationship with each other.

Earlier in the day, India's Ambassador to China Gautam Bambawale told ANI that the two countries will not release any Memorandum of Understandings or Joint statements post the culmination of the informal meeting.

Further the two leaders are expected to visit certain places in the Wuhan City including the East Lake or Wuhan botanical garden which are said to be the famous sight-seeing places of the Chinese commercial hub.

Earlier in the day President Jinping arrived at the Wuhan city ahead of the informal summit.

Later on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Modi will depart from New Delhi for Beijing.

The summit comes at a time when the two sides are facing conflicts over the on-going Doklam stand-off and China's vetoing of a UNSC move to declare Pakistan- based Masood Azhar as a global terrorist and a fugitive. (ANI)
