Macron likely to discuss Syria, Iraq with Trump

Paris [France], July 13 (ANI) : U.S. President Donald Trump touched down in Paris to forge a strong relationship with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Trump, who will be guest of honour at Friday's Bastille day celebrations, first honoured American first world war veterans in a ceremony at the U.S. embassy to mark 100 years since the U.S. joined the conflict.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump with military fanfare and then visited historic military complex at Les Invalides, built by the Sun King Louis XIV, where he was met with a large French army reception and joined Macron in inspecting the troops.

France has been under a state of emergency following IS inspired attacks attacks in the capital and other towns.

Trump's two-day sojourn to Paris is relaxing amid a row over allegations that his family colluded with Russia to win U.S. presidential election.

Trump and Macron will discuss counter-terrorism, Iraq, Syria bilateral ties and French anti-jihadi military operations in Africa and then hold a joint press conference, the Guardian reported.

Both the leaders have differences over the Paris Agreement on climate change. President Donald Trump on June 2 decided to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate accord citing that the 2015 agreement was detrimental to the United States economy. In response, Macron invited American climate researchers to move to France. The Macron's administration even released edited version of a White House video explaining why the Paris climate accord was a 'bad deal" for the U.S.

French officials edited the captions that explain why the Paris climate accord was a 'bad deal" for the U.S. The French ministry posted the edited White House video on Twitter for Europe, in which Trump announced his decision of U.S. withdrawing from the UN-brokered deal, which seeks to limit global temperature raises by 2100 to 2 degrees Celsius above levels recorded before industrialization.
