Bangladesh releases three Indian prisoners

Agartala (Tripura) [India], November 15 (ANI): Bangladesh on Tuesday released three Indian prisoners through Agartala-Akhaura integrated checkpost.

All three non-tribal youths identified as Arun Debbarma, Nayan Debbarma and Amarbiswa Jamatia had completed their terms in Moulabhibazar jail for entering Bangladesh without any legal documents.

They informed that they wanted to tour Bangladesh in 2004 but were arrested by the border guard of the country and handed over to the police.

Later, they were produced in the court and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment.

All three will remain in custody of Tripura Police till it is proved that they do not have any case pending against them in India.

Meantime, it is reported that one more India citizen of Manipur was supposed to be deported by the Bangladesh authority, but the Tripura government did not agree.

Tripura has a 857 km long border with Bangladesh, of which only 21 km is still unfenced and through which smuggling of contraband, marijuana and cattle is rampant. (ANI)
