Bangladesh PM releases commemorative postage stamp on Victory Day

Dhaka [Bangladesh], December 16 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday released a commemorative postage stamp of Taka 10 denomination to mark the country's 47th Victory Day.

She also released a data card of Tk5 and a souvenir issued by Bangladesh Post Office on the occasion.

The postal stamps, first day covers and data cards will be put on sale at philatelic bureau of Dhaka GPO from today while these will be available in other post offices later, The Daily Star quoted officials as saying.

Earlier, Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid and Hasina paid homage to the soldiers, who lost their lives in the liberation movement of the country.

The day is marked as a public holiday in Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh celebrate December 16 as 'Vijay Diwas' every year to mark their military victory over Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, which eventually led to the liberation of Bangladesh. (ANI)
