Raftar: Over 600 stranded passengers rescued from Mahalaxmi Express train
Mumbai-Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Express has been stranded due to very heavy downpour in the area since early Saturday morning. It is reported that there are around 700 passengers on board and so far, 600 people have been rescued. Teams of NRDF and Indian Navy were sent into action for the rescue operation. Two ADRMs and other senior officials of Railway are at site personally monitoring the rescue work.
Earlier, after a request from the Maharashtra government, eight flood rescue teams from Navy including 3 diving teams mobilised with rescue material, inflatable boats & life jackets were sent to the location.
