Al-Zawahiri UPDATES: Here's what former PM Barack Obama has to say on the success of Mission Al Qaeda
The terrorist organization Al Qaeda's leader Ayman-al-Zawahiri has been killed in CIA drone attack in Kabul, Afghanistan. According to the officials, Al Zawahiri was in the balcony of a safe house in Kabul when the drone launched two missiles at him. After months of planning, Biden announced he had granted final clearance for the "precise hit" on the 71-year-old al-Qaeda chief. After Osama bin Laden's death in 2011, Zawahiri headed Al-Qaeda. He and Bin Laden collaborated in the 9/11 attacks, and he was one of the US's "most wanted terrorists."
Former PM Barack Obama tweeted that Al Zawahiri's end is a victory for the Biden leadership. He also added that the success of Mission Al Qaeda has proved that the fight against terrorism can be fought without War. Watch his detailed statement.
