Sri Lanka Crisis: Security personnel beat up protesters outside the Presidents House

Thousands of demonstrators have been asking for Rajapaksa's resignation since March, when it was revealed that Sri Lanka was in the grip of a serious economic crisis. PM Wickremesinghe urged both the security forces and the protesters to act with restraint in order to prevent any violence and ensure public safety. Amid the nationwide unrest, protestors barged into the premises of the presidential palace in Colombo earlier in the day.
