Weather Update: Heavy Rains Cause Severe Flooding in Gujarat, Watch Report | ABP News

Heavy rains on Wednesday, July 24, led to overflowing rivers and dams in large parts of Gujarat, cutting off several villages and flooding low-lying areas. Officials reported that eight people have died in rain-related incidents, and over 800 people have been relocated to safer places. Districts like Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, and Anand experienced heavy rainfall since morning, severely disrupting normal life. Authorities declared a day-long holiday for schools and colleges in some areas, and train services were also affected. State Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey stated that considering the current situation, 20 teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and 11 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in the affected districts. He mentioned that all 206 major dams in the state are receiving a significant inflow of water, with Gujarat's largest dam, the Sardar Sarovar, now 54% full. In the affected districts of Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, and Anand, administration has deployed personnel from NDRF, SDRF, and local fire brigades to rescue people from flood-hit areas and move them to safety. Residents in low-lying areas have been relocated to safer locations after the areas were inundated with water.
