Wayanad Landslides: 4 Villages Devastated, Over 120 Dead, Many Trapped Under Rubble | ABP News
At least 143 people were reported dead in the twin landslides that hit Kerala's Wayanad district early on Tuesday, according to the Kerala Health Department. As rescue operations entered their second day on Wednesday, torrential rainfall continued to impact the region, as reported by ANI.
The landslides were triggered by the heavy rainfall, washing away permanent structures in Wayanad. Amid a red alert predicting more heavy rain, soldiers from the 122 Infantry Battalion of the Territorial Army prepared for their second day of rescue operations. They moved from their temporary shelter at a local school to the calamity-hit areas in Meppadi, Wayanad, to assist those affected by the disaster.
