Supreme Court stays the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra

The Supreme Court has put a stay on the religious Jagannath Rath Yatra to be held in Odisha in view of the Coronavirus. This journey happens every year. This year the yatra was to begin on 23 June.

Lord Jagannath will forgive us if we stay the Rath Yatra this year. Such gatherings can't take place at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the interest of public health and safety of citizens, Rath Yatra can't be allowed this year: Supreme Court
