Southern Rising Summit: CM Revanth Reddy Alleges Government Underfunds South India
Revanth Reddy accused the Centre of favoring northern states, claiming southern states like Telangana are underfunded. "For every Rupee we pay in taxes, we get only 40 paise back. But Uttar Pradesh gets Rs 7 and Bihar Rs 6," he said, noting that southern states contribute significantly more in taxes. He also alleged the Centre is obstructing Telangana’s projects to prevent competition with Gujarat, citing PM Modi’s focus on projects like GIFT City and bullet trains for Gujarat. Reddy claimed the Congress cooperates with the BJP in opposition states, but the BJP’s approach is “destructive,” cornering any state that tries to rival Gujarat’s development initiatives.
