Sawan 2024: Devotees Immersed in Mahakal's Worship, All Schools To Remain Closed in Ujjain | ABP News

Today marks the beginning of the month of Sawan and the first Monday of this auspicious period. According to the Hindu calendar, today is the Pratipada Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Ashadha. The month of Sawan, which is highly revered among devotees of Lord Shiva, is considered exceptionally significant this year. Remarkably, this year, there will be five Mondays within the Sawan month, both the first and the last days of the month falling on a Monday—a rare occurrence that hasn't happened in many years. The entire month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and it is believed that those who worship the Shivling during these sacred days can diminish the adverse effects of planetary influences in their lives. The first and last Mondays of Sawan are particularly auspicious for Shiva devotees, who engage in rigorous worship and meditation to seek blessings and fulfill their wishes. This rare alignment of five Mondays within the Sawan month adds to its spiritual significance. Devotees believe that being immersed in the devotion of Lord Shiva during Sawan brings immense spiritual benefits, peace, and prosperity. The month is considered highly favorable for performing religious rituals, observing fasts, and offering prayers to Lord Shiva. The tradition of Sawan Somwar (Mondays of Sawan) involves special prayers and rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees often visit temples, perform Abhishekam (ritualistic bathing of the Shivling), chant mantras, and observe fasts to honor and please Lord Shiva. It is a time of deep spiritual reflection, devotion, and penance, with the hope of receiving divine blessings and the removal of obstacles from their lives. As the month of Sawan commences, millions of Shiva devotees across the country are gearing up to engage in various religious activities, making this period one of profound spiritual significance and collective devotion.
