Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dras, Ladakh on Friday (July 26) to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas. At the War Memorial, he paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the war against Pakistan. In his address, PM Modi warned Pakistan, stating that its malicious intentions would never succeed. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated across the country today in memory of India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war. PM Modi also inaugurated the Shinkun La Tunnel project in Ladakh with the first blast. According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), this project will provide all-weather connectivity to Leh and, once completed, will be the highest tunnel in the world. Over the past few years, the government has focused heavily on Ladakh, repairing several key roads and constructing new roads and bridges.
