Prayagraj News: Devotees Take A Holy Dip In The Ganga To Mark Nirjala Ekadashi | ABP News
A large crowd of devotees gathered at the Sangam ghat in Prayagraj on Tuesday morning to take a dip in the Ganga to mark Nirjala Ekadashi, a sacred day which falls during the Shukla Paksh of the Jyeshtha month of the Hindu calendar. Devotees who observe the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi abstain from consuming food and water for a 24-hour period to cleanse the mind and soul. "The people who never keep fast and decide to do it today without drinking water then they will be blessed and all their wishes will be fulfilled. That's how auspicious Nirajal Ekadashis is. It is significant to give water, sweets, shoes and umbrella on this day. Donating all these will bring happiness and prosperity in one's family. That is the significance of Nirjala Ekadashi," says Sangham Ghat Preist. Devotees performed various rituals to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu, praying for inner peace. The fast is traditionally broken the following day with a light meal.
