Nepal obstructs repair work at Gandak Dam, Bihar fears flood

In the midst of a border dispute with India, the Nepal government  has stopped the construction work of the embankment being built on the Red Bakaya River in Dhaka subdivision of East Champaran.

Gandak barrage has 36 gates, 18 of which are in Nepal. India has repaired the dam up to its share gate as every year. At the same time, the dam built in the part of Nepal from the 18th to the 36th gate has not been repaired.
