MP Elections: Politics heats up over shutting down of madrassas

Madhya Pradesh minister, Usha Thakur, has sparked a row with her comment on madrassas. She said that terrorists are being raised in madrassas and that these institutions were responsible for the rise in fundamentalism.

Earlier, Assam declared that all the government-run madrassas will be shut down and turned into regular schools. In Maharashtra also, such demands have been raised and conveyed to CM Uddhav Thackeray.
