Makar Sankranti: Pilgrims throng Sangam Ghat in large numbers to take holy dip

To mark the auspicious festival of Makar Sankranti, pilgrims thronged the Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj, to take a holy dip before sunrise. Braving the biting cold weather and chilled water, the devotees swarmed in at the ghats in a huge number. 
On Makar Sankranti, taking a bath before sunrise, prayers, and charity hold special significance.

Pilgrims said they felt contented to take a dip in the holy water and were impressed due to cleanliness at ghats.
