Maharashtra News: Major Police Action in Case of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue Collapse | ABP News
In response to the destruction of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, the state government has established a Technical Joint Committee to investigate the incident. This committee includes civil engineers, experts, representatives from IIT, and the Navy. The state government aims to identify those responsible for the destruction of the statue, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2023. Prior to this, the Chief Minister had instructed the Public Works Department to form a committee of top sculptors, civil engineers, experts, and naval officers to create a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj reflecting his achievements. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also directed the formation of a new committee comprising representatives from the J.J. School of Arts, IIT, civil engineers, renowned sculptors from Maharashtra, and technical officers from the Navy to suggest a design for a new, grand statue. CM Shinde described the incident as unfortunate and noted the public outrage supporting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent such incidents in the future and stressed that the new statue should be in line with the image of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
