Maharashtra Election 2024: Akhilesh Yadav Fields 4 Candidates Ahead Of Seat Sharing Conflict

Samajwadi Party President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, has shifted his focus to "Mission Maharashtra" as part of the ongoing political dynamics in the state. His primary aim is to secure as many seats as possible for the Samajwadi Party within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. The MVA is currently a coalition between the Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). As part of this strategy, Akhilesh Yadav arrived in Maharashtra on Friday, October 18, to bolster his party's position ahead of the elections. Addressing the media, Yadav emphasized the need for extreme caution in the state, referencing past election outcomes. He pointed to Haryana, where despite an initial defeat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to secure a win. However, Yadav expressed confidence that in both Jharkhand and Maharashtra, the opposition alliance, INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), would emerge victorious. He underscored the importance of staying "super alert" in Maharashtra to counter the BJP's strategies and safeguard democratic values. His visit highlights the growing significance of seat-sharing negotiations within the MVA, as all parties prepare to unite against the BJP in the upcoming elections.
