Lok Sabha: Rahul Gandhi Meets Om Birla, Expresses Disapproval Over Emergency Statements | ABP News

Newly-elected Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla read the resolution condemning the Emergency on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. During this, he strongly condemned the Emergency and described it as a dark chapter in the history of the country.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his displeasure over the proposal to condemn the Emergency in front of the Lok Sabha Speaker. Gandhi stated that the Speaker should not have brought such a political resolution and should have avoided it. According to sources, this was a courtesy call proposed yesterday, but the opposition was angry due to the resolution condemning the Emergency. Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal reacted to the resolution condemning the Emergency. He had also objected, saying, "It was surprising for all of us how the Speaker addressed this (Emergency). The government deliberately chose today. There was a good atmosphere in the House today, with the election for the Speaker. The BJP and the central government were trying to spoil that atmosphere."
