May 14 is an auspicious day as it also coincides with Ganga Saptami, which is believed to be the day Goddess Ganga came down to earth.
Also known as Ganga Jayanti, it is a Hindu festival that is celebrated to mark the descent of the holy river Ganges to Earth. It is also called Ganga Saptami as the day falls on the seventh day (Saptami) of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Vaisakha.
