Didi's death has been confirmed by Breach Candy Hospital, where Lata Mangeshkar was admitted after being diagnosed with COVID-19. Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating the singer at the hospital said, "We regret to inform you that Lata Mangeshkar Didi passed away this morning at 8:12 a.m. She died of multiple organ failure after a 28-day hospitalisation following COVID."
