Jammu And Kashmir: In a strategic move to curb the spread of dengue, Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir has released Gambusia fish into its 24 ponds. This environmentally friendly approach focuses on eliminating mosquito larvae, the primary source of dengue transmission. The decision followed a significant surge in dengue cases in 2023, with Tikri Block identified as a hotspot. The health department is also intensifying awareness campaigns to educate the public about dengue prevention. Chief Medical Officer Udhampur, Dr. Anil Manhas, assured residents of the department’s dedication to combating the disease and emphasized ongoing efforts to mitigate the impact of dengue.
