A day after BJP leaders claimed Ansar, the accused in the Jahangirpuri violence, had ties to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi MLA Atish refuted the assertion, alleging that the accused is a BJP leader who is actively involved in the saffron party. Ansar's Robinhood image was tarnished after ABP News' sting operation in the Jahangirpuri.

On Saturday, April 16, violence erupted during a Hanuman Jayanti parade in Delhi's Jahangirpuri neighbourhood, injuring a number of police officers. The investigation has been assigned to the Crime Branch, which has formed 14 teams to probe the situation from all sides. Following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's call for tough action, NSA has been slapped on 5 accused persons so far.
