Is The Government Worried About Rising Onion Prices This Festive Season? Relief Plan Announced | Paisa Live
During the festive season, rising onion prices have brought tears to many eyes. In response, the central government has made a significant decision to alleviate the burden of expensive onions for residents of Delhi NCR. The government has procured onions from Nashik, Maharashtra, through the National Cooperative Consumer Federation (NCCF) to be distributed during the festive season in Delhi NCR. This initiative aims to enhance the availability of onions and provide relief against soaring prices. As of October 20, the NCCF has successfully distributed onions in 77 locations across 21 states, reaching 43 destinations in 16 states. Furthermore, the agency has partnered with Central Warehouse and Reliance Retail to sell onions at a subsidized rate of ₹35 per kilo to retail consumers.
