Himachal Pradesh: Apple scab will lead to costlier fruit
The disease was first seen in1982 after it hit the apple crop. Now after 38 years it has hit again and the reason cited is the reduced use of pesticides due to lockdown. It will lead to reduced output of the crop thereby leading to higher prices. Last time when scab hit it took 10 years to control it. 1000 hectares of of Apple orchards in Himachal Pradesh are affected due to the spread of scab.
