The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain for Delhi-NCR on Wednesday (24 July), which will bring relief from the humidity. The IMD forecasts that on 24 July, Delhi will have a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.
For Mumbai, the IMD has issued a red alert for rain on 24 July. During this period, temperatures in Mumbai are expected to range between 24 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius. The IMD's forecast could exacerbate problems for residents as heavy rains have been ongoing in Mumbai for several days. In response, Mumbai Police have urged people to stay away from coastal areas, and the BMC has advised against unnecessary travel. This alert also extends to the Konkan region of Maharashtra, including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
Alerts in Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat
The reactivation of the monsoon poses a threat to several states, including Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat. The IMD has issued an orange alert for these three states for the next two to three days, with a red alert for rain in many areas of Gujarat and Goa. Additionally, heavy rain is forecasted for several districts in Madhya Pradesh.
Which Districts in UP Will Experience Rain?
The weather in Uttar Pradesh has also changed. According to the IMD, heavy rain is expected in Varanasi, Mirzapur, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Prayagraj, Lucknow, and Kanpur until Saturday (27 July). Cool winds are also predicted over the weekend. Continuous rain in several districts of Uttar Pradesh has led to a drop in temperature by three to four degrees Celsius.
In Madhya Pradesh, heavy rain continues, affecting both road and rail transport.
