Delhi Water Crisis: Atishi's Major Allegation Against Haryana Government Amid Hunger Strike

Delhi Water Minister Atishi stated that she is on a hunger strike due to a severe water crisis in Delhi. The city lacks its own water supply and relies on neighboring states, with 613 MGD (million gallons per day) of its total 1005 MGD coming from Haryana. For the past three weeks, Haryana has reduced its water supply to Delhi, claiming a shortage. However, a visit to the Hathni Kund Barrage revealed that there is water available, but the gate that releases water to Delhi is closed. This has resulted in a critical situation for Delhi's water supply, prompting the minister to protest.
