Covid-19: Another day, another record, almost 39,000 new cases in 24 hours

India's Coronavirus (Covid-19) count surged to 10.77 lakh cases on Sunday with 38,902 new cases registered in the last 24 hours. This is yet another single-day spike in fresh infections.

In the last 24 hours, 543 deaths linked to the pandemic were reported, taking the national death toll to 26,816. The recovery rate stands at 62.86 percent. India is the third worst-hit country by the pandemic after the United States and Brazil.
