CAA protests: UP police detain women protesters in Lucknow
Uttar Pradesh police has started detaining women staging a sit-in protest in Lucknow's Ghantaghar area. The people were protesting the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Among the women who are detained is Samajwadi Party leader Pooja Shukla. Police has also deployed Rapid Action Force. The Lucknow protests were inspired by Shaheen Bagh protests in New Delhi.
Braving the extreme cold wave conditions, hundreds of women, some carrying their little children, embarked on a 'dharna' at the Ghantaghar.
