On the night of Sunday, September 1, former NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pune. According to the Pune Police, he was also attacked with sharp weapons. The incident occurred in the Nana Peth area of the city. Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma stated that Vanraj Andekar, who was a former corporator from Ajit Pawar's NCP faction, was standing with his cousin at Imandar Chowk around 9:30 PM when the attackers approached and assaulted him. Initial investigations reveal that there were five rounds of firing, and sharp weapons were used before the shooting. The Crime Branch and other teams are working to locate and arrest the perpetrators. It is still unclear who the attackers are and their motive for targeting Andekar. Some known individuals are being questioned as part of the investigation. The cause of death has been confirmed as injuries from sharp weapons.
