Bahraich Durga Idol Immersion Chaos: Police Negligence Leads To Violence, 25 Arrested Amidst Tensions | ABP Live

During the immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga in Bahraich on Sunday, it was reported that both the Station House Officer (SHO) and the station in-charge exhibited negligence, leading to escalating tensions and chaos. Allegations suggest that police personnel on-site remained passive as disputes flared between the two parties. When members of the puja committee protested, the police retaliated with a lathi charge, causing further unrest. Subsequently, 25 individuals from both sides were arrested for questioning. SP Brinda Shukla stated that one identified troublemaker named Salman has been named in the incident, and teams have been dispatched to apprehend other suspects. Following discussions with administrative officials, the immersion resumed after being halted for approximately 1,100 idols due to the unrest. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered strict action against those responsible for the negligence.
