18th Lok Sabha Session: Nominations For The Post Of Lok Sabha Speaker To Begin Today | ABP News
The Lok Sabha speaker will be elected by consensus. The chances of election for the post of Speaker are considered very less. According to sources, the opposition will not field candidates. The opposition is waiting for the name from the ruling party to come forward for the post of Speaker. According to sources in the opposition alliance, if the government takes the initiative, the opposition can agree to decide the speaker by consensus. The government is continuing its efforts to create a consensus for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Defense Minister Rajnath and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju have been given the responsibility by the government. Rajnath Singh is talking to opposition parties. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha started on Monday. On the first day of the session, President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to senior BJP MP Bhartrihari Mahtab as Protem Speaker at Rashtrapati Bhavan. After the swearing in of the Protem Speaker, the newly elected members including PM Modi took oath. The remaining MPs will be sworn in on the second day of the session. The election of the new Lok Sabha Speaker will be held on Wednesday. President Draupadi Murmu will address the joint meeting of both the houses of Parliament on Thursday.
