Haridwar: District jail opens bakery operated by prisoners to provide inmates fresh bakery items
A bakery, fully operated by prisoners, has been established in the Haridwar district jail in Uttarakhand. According to the jail superintendent, the bakery currently produces items intended solely for consumption by the jail's inmates.. The jail authorities have employed four prisoners at the bakery after they received training as bakers. The jail administration plans to sell the bakery items produced here outside the jail so that the prisoners can earn some income with it, which will be useful for them once they are released from jail.
