Karnataka Results: Yeddyurappa meets governor; swearing-ceremony tomorrow, say Sources
BJP CM candidate VS Yeddyurappa and other top legislatures are set to meet the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake claim to form the government after BJP emerged as the single largest party but fell short of majority. The Congress on Tuesday said it had offered its backing to the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) to form a government in Karnataka following a hung Assembly. Both parties have reportedly agreed on Kumaraswamy as next chief minister. The JDS leader has arrived at his father Deve Gowda's residence to take a final call.
The BJP bagged 104 seats, a gain of 64 , while the Congress notched 78, a loss of 44 seats, though its vote share was nearly two percentage points more than the saffron party.
