About Karnataka Elections
Counting will be held in nearly 40 counting centres, election office sources said.
Several exit polls have predicted a hung Assembly, and said former prime minister H D Deve Gowda's JD(S) would play the role of the kingmaker.
On Monday, senior journalists intensively covering the Karnataka Assembly elections also predicted a hung assembly in the southern state with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party. According to the survey, the saffron party is projected to win 99 seats in the 224-member Assembly while the Congress is likely to get 89 seats.
Former prime minister HD Deve Gowda's JD(S) may emerge as the kingmaker in the tightly contested elections with 34 seats, they opined based upon their travel across the state during the elections.
In case of a clear verdict in favour of the Congress, the grand old party will have broken the jinx of no political party retaining the reins of the state since 1985, when the erstwhile Janata Dal formed the government under Ramakrishna Hegde for a second consecutive term.
