Hamid Ansari, the Indian national who was detained in Pakistan six years ago, reached India today by crossing the Attari-Wagah border. Ansari crossed over to the Indian side, as his family waited at the border to receive him. He was lodged in a jail in Pakistan and was released on Tuesday.
Ansari, a 33-year-old Mumbai resident, was detained by Pakistani intelligence agencies in the year 2012 for entering the country illegally to reportedly meet a girl had befriended online.
