Discussion on 'triple talaq' bill in Lok Sabha today
The Triple talaq bill which seeks to make the practice of instant triple talaq among Muslim men a legal offence is likely to be discussed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. After the Congress party agreed to participate in the debate, the Lok Sabha had last week on Thursday decided to take up the bill on December 27.
Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the Congress in the House, had suggested it be taken up for discussion next week and assured that the opposition would not disrupt proceedings in the Lower House. After a long weekend, Parliament is meeting on Thursday.
