College students in Agra happy with 10% reservation for general casts
The government will table the bill to provide 10 per cent reservation in jobs and education for the economically weak Upper Caster category in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday as the Constitution (103rd Amendment) Bill. On Tuesday, Lok Sabha already passed the bill with a thumping majority as 323 members voted in favour of the same. The opposition, including the Congress, dubbed the proposed law as a political stunt that may not stand judicial scrutiny but gave support to the Govt in passing the bill in the Lower House, thereby underlining the huge political impact, the landmark bill had in luring the economically poor sections of the upper castes. The NDA government has claimed that the bill is aimed at giving equal opportunity to economically backwards people in the general category.
