ABP News camera captured policemen themselves not following the traffic rules under new Motor Vehicle Act.
The escalated fines came into force after the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 was amended in Parliament on July 31 and the new law came into effect on September 3 in the southern state.
According to the Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the higher fines are meant to save lives rather than augment revenue.
