The farmers of Punjab and Haryana are being accused that the government buys around 80 percent of their crop on MSP, so they do not want to sow any other crop. While the reality is that the farmers of Punjab and Haryana had fed the people of the country after the Green Revolution. Before the 60s, the situation was such that wheat from abroad used to come to India via ship and then the people of the country were able to eat. At that time, the government made a change only with the help of the farmers of Haryana-Punjab. But after that there was no attempt to encourage these farmers for other crops also. Now that the government has brought its new laws and they are being opposed, the government is ready for amendment. But the question is that if the government is ready then why does it not make new laws by talking to the farmers, Vijay Vidrohi explains.
