Domestic Flyers With Green Status On Arogya Setu App Do Not Need Quarantine, Says Govt

Puri had on Thursday announced that domestic passenger flight services commencing from Monday will have a fixed minimum and maximum fare structure for different routes.

New Delhi: Civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday clarified that domestic flyers with no symptoms of Coronavirus and have a green signal on the Aarogya Setu mobile application need not to be quarantined after reaching their destination. "If you have taken a test and your test report is negative, following you don't have any symptoms, so I believe there should be no need for quarantine," Puri said while speaking to media during a press conference earlier in the day. He also said that the Arogya Setu app is like a passport, if your status on the app is green, adding, "Why should anyone want any quarantine." "Arogya Setu app is something I would suggest to everyone as it is an excellent contact-tracing app. There is nothing comparable to this app," the Civil aviation minister said. He also said that the government is doing the best it can and adding more flights. "We will increase the number of International passenger flights in the coming days," he said. "We will put in place arrangements to make sure that your coming to the airport is facilitated. Borders between Delhi-Haryana and Delhi -Uttar Pradesh is the matter of the state governments and they will deal with it," he added. "Why wait till August-September? If situation eases or improves - if virus behaves in predictable manner, we get used to idea of being able to co-exist with it and we are in position to make arrangements-why not start by June middle or end July?," he said. "Our effort would be to see that if we are able to see that at least a good percentage, even if not the international civil aviation, we can start," Puri added. Puri had on Thursday announced that domestic passenger flight services commencing from Monday will have a fixed minimum and maximum fare structure for different routes. While detailing the plans to re-start domestic operations, he said the step has been taken under the special prevailing circumstances that have come about due to the pandemic. Under the new fare structure, air routes are divided into seven sections based on travel time. Each such section has its minimum and maximum fares. Accordingly, Delhi-Mumbai ticket price has been fixed at Rs 3,500-Rs 10,000 for three months from May 25 to August 24. The minister further said the limited passenger flight operations of about one-third capacity of summer schedule would be permitted to operate between metro cities from May 25. This capacity might be ramped up in the subsequent time period. Passenger air services were suspended for both scheduled domestic and international flights since March 25, due to the imposition of the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.
